Velma Geree Sorrow, 81, made her entrance into eternal life with Jesus on June 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her daughter's home. She was born on May 27, 1944, to the late Harriett Lane and Bruce Cameron Brown in Jesup, Georgia.

Geree graduated from Wayne County High School and later graduated from the Decorating Den Interiors University. She spent some time working as a Regional Supervisor for the Savannah News Press and retired as an Interior Design Franchise owner for Decorator Den.

Geree's relationship with Christ was a focal point of her life, and while she was unable to attend church in her later years due to physical limitations, she enjoyed watching services with Pastor Jerry Vines from the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.

She loved her family dearly and cherished the time she got to spend with them, especially with her only child and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harriett Lane and Bruce Cameron Brown; sisters, Evelyn Lane, Nadine Franklin, and Frances Bell; as well as a beloved grandson, Jonathan L. Owens, Jr..

She is survived by her daughter, Terri Aldridge Hunter (Bobby); grandchildren, Casey Owens (Katie), Jacob Owens (Kaycee), and Tiffany Baker (Ricky); 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a special neighbor and dear friend of 30 years, Alan Edelstein.

Bobby Hunter, Jacob Owens, Casey Owens, Ricky Baker, Jonathan Baker, Brayden Baker, and Isaiah Baker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Hospice of South Georgia's nurses and CNAs; social worker, Paulette Lane Sims, LCSW; office manager, Lisa Aldridge Tatum; Brittany Hayes, CNA; Madison Kent, CNA; and Robin Anderson, RN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of South Georgia in Jesup.

A visitation will be held at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 officiated by Pastor Jimmy Guffey.  Interment will take place in Chapel Park Cemetery.
