Virginia "Jinny" K. (Miller) Butz, 71, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in the company of her children. Born on May 2, 1952, in Columbia City, Indiana, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ronald E. and Mary Kathryn (Hathaway) Miller. She graduated from South Whitley High School in 1970. Jinny continued her education at Ravenscroft Beauty College and in 1971 received her cosmetology license and began her work career as a hair stylist. In 1997, she transitioned to Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance as a claims representative, and in July 2014, she retired after 17 years of service. Jinny was devoted to her family, especially her children, her faith, and her friends. She loved to travel, read, listen to good music, play with her grand pups, and be surrounded by those she held most dear. Her smile was infectious and would light up any room. Jinny touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley (Don) Wimberly of St. Simons Island, GA; son, Logan (Mary) Butz of Charleston, SC; two grandsons, Fuller Wimberly of St. Simons Island, GA; Joshua Morris of Jacksonville, FL; one granddaughter, Jessica Schultz of Greer, S.C; sister, Lucia (Everette) Sroufe of South Whitley, IN; brother, Michael (Deb) Miller of Paulding, OH; two nephews, Aaron (Kristin) Bassett of Ft. Wayne, IN; Kyle (Jasmine) Bassett of Goshen, IN. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Bassett; and brother, Mark Miller. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the following: Coastal Hospice of Georgia and/or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. A celebration of life will be held by her children, at a later date.
