Virginia "Ginger" Marler, 74, of Brunswick died Monday, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Mrs. Marler was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. She spent her formative years in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. After she graduated college, she worked as a pediatric nurse at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. She then went on and founded the Recovery Center in Monticello, New York. She retired as a clinical director of the Valley View Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Marler moved to Brunswick in 1993 from New York, and was a volunteer and the Gateway Center, Seafarers Center of Brunswick, and various other organizations.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Williams Catholic Church on St. Simons, with Father Cletus Pfiefer officiating.
Survivors include, husband, Sammie Lee Marler of Brunswick; son, Rev. Father Robert F. Higgins of Hardeeville, S.C.; daughter, Katherine Harris of Brunswick; brother, Donald (Perrie) Colapinto of San Diego, CA.; four grandchildren, Ginger Bagley, Erin Harris, Arveida Hughes, and William Harris; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
