Virginia Maxey of Brunswick, 91, passed on to a new life on Friday, June 13, 2014. Mrs. Maxey worked at US Steel in her hometown of Gary, IN. During World War II, her husband, Wyatt, served our country. Wyatt and Virginia were married for over 72 years. Together they raised 4 children, Frances Hodge (deceased), Barbara Wright of Jacksonville, FL, Carol Jean Davis of Lake Station, IN, and Wyatt James of Brunswick, GA. Mrs. Maxey enjoyed their 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was a devout Christian and a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Joy Women's Group. A celebration of Mrs. Maxey's life will be held graveside at Chapel Park Cemetery at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home will serve the family of Virginia Maxey.
