Wanell A. Jones, 83, of Brunswick passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her residence. Wanell was born April 5, 1931 in Jesup, Ga to Carris and Clara Pharis. After graduating highschool, she attended nursing school in Orangeburg, South Carolina. It was there she met the love of her life, Billy Jones. They were married for 62 years. Wanell was a longtime resident of Glynn County and a charter member of New Life Sanctuary. She was a registered nurse and retired from Southeast Georgia Health System. Wanell's life was a life of unselfish service. Whether it was through her nursing career, teaching children in Sunday School, being a cub scout den mother, or serving as a caregiver for family, friends, and those less fortunate, she was always loving and faithful. Wanell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy, who passed away September 9, 2014, and a sister Jackie Jones. She is survived by a son, Billy Jones of Brunswick; a daughter, Cindy Underwood of Brunswick; a brother, Eugene Pharis (Georgiann) of Atlanta; 5 grandchildren, Heather Bennett, Bradley Jones, Christy Jones, Ryan Jones and David Parke. 9 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services to be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at New Life Sanctuary with Pastor's Mark Jones and Kirk Brown officiating. Burial to follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM in the chapel at the Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dell Bennett, Trey Bennett, Allen Fairey, Bradley Jones, Ryan Jones, David Parke, Austin Parke, Dawson Parke, and Luke Parke. Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies in her Monday morning Women's Bible Study at Chic-fil-a. This gathering was the highlight of her week. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles and New Life Sanctuary.
