Obituary

Harold Wayne Dorris, 79, of Brunswick, Georgia left his earthly home on April 6, 2016 to enter his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Vinson and Harvey Dorris and three older brothers, Ralph, Boyd and Bob Dorris. Wayne was a kind, loving, devoted husband, father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He enjoyed spending quality time with both family and friends. Wayne served in the United States Navy as an airplane mechanic and nautical engineer. After leaving the Navy, he met and married Jane Marie Dycus on October 1, 1957. Their marriage was blessed with daughters Jan and Lora. Wayne retired from Prudential Insurance Company after 28 years of service. After retirement, he owned and operated Brunswick West Laundry on Highway 341 for several years as well as owning many rental properties in Brunswick. He was a 30 year active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He a long time member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and he helped to build the church and start the Boy Scout Troop. In his spare time, he volunteered at Hospice of the Golden Isles. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Dorris, his devoted daughters Jan Cleiland (Tim) of Portland, OR and Lora Bush (Wilson) of Darien, GA; grandchildren Mandy Michalsen (David) of Seattle WA, Anastasia Ray of Darien, GA, Brandon (Brittany) Dodge of Dublin, GA,; Great Grandchildren Emeline and Josephine Michalsen; Triston, Maddison and Dylan Ray; and Kristen and Kaylee Dodge as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 11, 2016 in the Chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park. Officiating will be Rev. Don Combs of Lakeside United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park cemetery with military honors. Honorary pall bearers will be Dr. Stephen Chitty, Dr. David Heine. Pallbearers will be Sam Nickerson, John Dove, Bruce Batistini, Maynard Clark, Charlie Williamson, and Doug Rittenehouse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Golden Isles.
