Wesley Michael Kayyali of St. Simons Island Georgia, passed away February 3, 2026 after a brief illness in Brunswick, GA.

Wesley, or Wes as he was known to us all, was born January 12, 1985, in Fernandina Beach, FL. He and his mom, Carol, later moved to Atlanta, GA. where, as a young man, Wes played AAU basketball, entertaining his family with his ball handling, shooting, and trash-talking skills. Later, Wes would become an accomplished cook, delighting patrons, friends and family with his creativity and talent, while finding satisfaction in the hard work and camaraderie of the kitchen.

Wes’ number one passion though was fishing, especially largemouth bass fishing. It’s what brought him joy and peace, and he was exceptionally good at it. And Wes was funny, with an intelligent wit, a seemingly endless number of entertaining voices and imitations, and a self-deprecating charm.

What we’ll most remember about Wes was his enormous heart and capacity for love. Wes was quick with an “I love you”, and if you were lucky enough to have been on the receiving end, you knew he meant it deeply. You could feel his love, and for this, we are eternally grateful.

Wes is survived by his mother, Carol Blanchard of St. Simons Island, GA, Uncles Matt Blanchard, Rick Blanchard (Sara) and David Blanchard (Sarah), and cousins Allie Styers, Vivi Blanchard, Bo Blanchard, Grace Blanchard and Julia Blanchard.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11 AM at the Decatur Legacy Park Dairy Barn, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
