Willard "Will" Allen Phillips Sr., 81, of Hartsville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday July 14 of natural causes at his residence.
Will was born in Alamance County, North Carolina on March 12, 1932. He graduated from E.M. Holt High school in 1950 and went on to work in management/ engineering for several companies including Western Electric, FMC, Mueller-Brass, and P & H Engineering. In 1977 Will moved to the Golden Isles with his family where he worked as plant manager of Kut Kwick Corporation until he retired in 2005.
Will was married to Wilma Jane Phillips on September 13, 1974; they were married 38 wonderful years. During retirement in 2006 Will and Jane relocated to their vacation home in Hartsville, TN where Jane continues to reside.
Will was very active and enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising hunting dogs. In 1985 Will founded Gopher Hill Hunting Club in Brantley County, Georgia where he encouraged members to bring their families and friends to enjoy all the outdoors has to offer.
Will is survived by his wife, Wilma Jane Phillips; sister, Patricia Phillips Bason and husband Bobby ; daughter, Tanya Renee Lewis and husband Steven; son, Willard Allen Phillips Jr. and wife Arien; stepsons, David Mark Spivey and wife Reba, Tommie Allen Spivey and wife Kathy, Terry Keith Spivey and wife Belinda; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Renee Raynor, Sgt. Stacy Jean Lovins, Madison Taylor Phillips, Tabitha Denise Spivey, Christopher Shane Spivey, Tiffany Renay Spivey, Savannah Spivey, and Trae Spivey.
Will is preceded in death by his parents, the late Louis Allen and Bertha King Phillips of Burlington, North Carolina.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday July 26 at 3:00pm at Brunswick Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. Pastor Joe White of Stable Life Worship Center of Inman, SC will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
