William Donald Banks, 85, passed away on September 29, 2021, at his home. Don was born in 1936, at his family farm in Banks County, Georgia. His parents were Ellis Verner Banks and Laura Alice (Ray) Banks of Banks County.
He attended Banks County High School where he was active on the basketball team and FFA. After school, he served in the Army on Active Duty and Reserves from 1954 to
1964. When he was released from the Army, Don returned to his farm in Banks County and worked as Quality Control Engineer at General Time.
Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was never so comfortable as when he was in the woods or on the water. He was able to fulfill a lifelong dream when he retired to Shellman Bluff, Georgia, to fish the saltwater.
He is survived by his wife Ellen McCullough Banks; daughters, Kathy Banks Turner of Maysville, Ga. and Debbie Parson of Homer, Ga.; and son, Donald Ellis (Bubba) Banks of Hartsville, Ga. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. ,
