William Wells Kilgore, Jr., known to everyone as 'Wells,' passed away peacefully after an extended illness on September 15, 2018, at the age of 68 years.
A native of Atlanta, Wells worked in the mental health field serving disabled and underprivileged children in Georgia for over 40 years. For the past 18 years, he was an administrator at Morningstar Children & Family Services based locally in Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy, mother Caroline Howard, children Will, Mary (Ben) Bryson, Caroline (Kyle Howser), and Lily (Chris) McCormick, brothers Geoff and Andy, grandsons Emory and Wells, and mother-in-law Mary Brooks. He was preceded in death by his sister Melanie, father William Wells Kilgore, Sr., step-mother Esther, and step-father Ralph Howard.
A memorial service in honor of Wells will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St. Simons Island, with Reverend Alan Dyer officiating. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall following the service. A special invitation is extended to any and all Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders.
