William "Scobbie" Herndon, 85, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on August 29, 2023, in his hometown. Born on March 16, 1938, in Brunswick, Georgia, William was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

William was a man who loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing. He found solace and joy in spending time in nature, casting his line and reeling in the perfect catch. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

William attended Glynn Academy High School, where he laid the foundation for a successful future. After completing his education, he proudly served in the Navy, dedicating his time and efforts to his military associations.

Following his military service, William embarked on a fulfilling career at South Georgia Tower & Tank in Brunswick, Georgia. For over 30 years, he worked as a talented painter, leaving his mark on various projects and contributing to the growth of his community.

In his leisure time, William found peace and contentment while pursuing his hobbies. Fishing remained a constant source of joy throughout his life, and he cherished the memories created during these tranquil moments. Above all, William valued the company of his loved ones, and his family was always at the center of his world.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate William's life will be held on Friday, September 1st, 2023, from 6-8 at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance of a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on their lives.

William will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Helen Herndon, and his son Keith Herndon (Sandy); grandchildren, Nashaw Whitley (Wendell), Jessica Willis (Sam), Jonathan Herndon, Briana Gonzalez (Ro'Man), Joshua Herndon, Catelynn Herndon, Chris Herndon; and five great-grandchildren who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Herndon, his mother, Lucille Herndon, and his two sons, Daryle Herndon and William "Butch" Herndon.
