Obituary

Willie James Montgomery Jr. was born on December 10, 1963, in Pompano Beach, Florida, to the late Willie James Montgomery Sr. and Amanda Smith. He received his education in the Glynn County School System and was an instrumental member of the Brunswick High School basketball team.

After graduating from high school, Willie moved to Pompano Beach, Florida, where he worked in the family business. With a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, he later branched out to establish his own business, “Willie The Tile Man.” He eventually returned to Brunswick, Georgia, where he continued operating his business and later worked for the City of Brunswick.

On March 2, 2026, Willie James Montgomery Jr. departed this life in Brunswick, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Tangerla Montgomery; children, LaShamus Montgomery, TaShawna Montgomery, Cherrynie Montgomery, Jazlynn Montgomery (Kelvin), Earl Thomas Jr.; mother, Amanda Smith; mother-in-law, Pearlie Washington Lewis of Macon, Georgia.

He is also survived by his siblings, Terrence Montgomery of Carrollton, Georgia, and Cheryl Council (Harvin) of Camden, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Latisha Washington of Jacksonville, Florida, Shemeka Jackson of Miami, Florida, Takeshia Jackson of Gainesville, Florida, and Sheba Jackson of Gainesville, Florida; brothers-in-law, Charles Washington of Brunswick, Georgia, and Tony Jackson (Shon) of Miami, Florida.

Willie also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, DaShawn Jones, Alaiyah Montgomery, Ahmyr Montgomery, Jaia Montgomery, Taliyah King, Tayveon King, Melvin Ivory Jr., Toikeith Purdy Jr., Willow Brown, Lailan Ross, Payton Ashley, and Jaylen Montgomery.

He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved co-workers, and friends who will continue to honor his memory.
