Obituary

Yvonne Morton Spivey, 100, formerly of St. Simons Island, GA, passed on March 31st, 2026, at the home of her daughter Vivienne in Pembroke Pines, FL. Yvonne was strong and clear-minded until the end and ultimately passed from the natural effects of old age. She had been lovingly cared for by her daughter Vivienne for the past seven years.

Yvonne was born on September 05, 1925, in the beachside town of Swansboro, North Carolina. She was raised by the many strong women of her family until she relocated in high school to the Norfolk, Virginia area. Shortly after graduating high school second in her class, she relocated in the early 1940’s to the blossoming town of Miami, Florida. While in Miami, Yvonne married her first husband Henry DeLagneau and raised their three children. She had a long career as an office worker with the Seaboard Railroad Company where she met her next husband, Guy Mitchell Spivey. After their marriage, they relocated together to Saint Simons Island, Georgia, where she would call home for over the next thirty years. After their marriage, they relocated to St. Simons Island, Georgia, her home for the next thirty plus years.

Yvonne was known as a kind and generous woman to all that she met. Many of her friendships she maintained for decades including her dearest friends Carol, Emma Lee, Margaret, Mitzi, and Blanche. Yvonne enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crossword puzzles to fill her time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Henry DeLagneau, second husband Guy Mithchell Spivey, and daughter-in-law Bonnie DeLagneau.

Survivors include her son, Charles DeLagneau of Pembroke Pines, Fl; daughters, Kathleen Rich (Richard) of Sunrise, FL, and Vivienne McLean of Pembroke Pines, FL; step-daughter, Carol Humphrey (Stephen) of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Andrea Amy (Joseph), Shawn Halliwell (Angie), Megan Dunphy (Kevin), and Nicole DeLagneau; six great grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Morton and family.

A graveside service was held Friday, April 10, 2026, in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island and Yvonne was laid to rest in the Mausoleum.
